Postpartum Yoga Teacher Training

The Embrace:

A new postpartum yoga teacher training.

It’s time: real and heartfelt yoga for postpartum and motherhood.

September 18, 19 and 20

Katoomba (Blue Mountains)

Mothers need and deserve yoga.

I’ve experienced myself what a support yoga is in this season of womanhood, and I’ve witnessed countless women bring presence and power to their changed and changing bodies through yoga after giving birth. Sure, I’ve also witnessed women grappling with birth trauma, body image, sleep deprivation, isolation, and identity shifts.

But in sharing yoga with postpartum women, I see women taking care of themselves and taking responsibility for themselves and their babies. I see sisterhood blossoming, and I see women embracing change and embracing each other.

And it’s time for all of us to see more of this!!! In our patriarchal society, there is a desperate need for reform and revolution in the spaces of postpartum care and motherhood. And it’s time for yoga to play its part.

Yoga holds so much power to shape a woman’s experience of motherhood.

Yoga - when masterfully facilitated and shared - holds so much potential to support postpartum women in general yoga classes, postpartum specific settings, women’s circles, birth work, and other healing and healthcare spaces.

Go on, keep reading. I’m Emma. And I’m calling on all yoga teachers and birth workers, calling on all postpartum women who are ready to feel THE EMBRACE of motherhood.

The Embrace is a postpartum yoga teacher training delivered in-person over 3 days with additional self-directed material and tasks.

It’s a deep dive into yoga philosophy and practices for postpartum and motherhood.

It’s an even deeper dive into how to masterfully teach and share postpartum yoga.

Aaaand it’s gonna practically and powerfully prepare you to shape your own motherhood journey and/or support all the mothers in your spaces.

So let’s go:

September 18, 19 and 20 in Katoomba (Blue Mountains, NSW).

I’m Emma, your postpartum yoga guide and trainer.

Hi! I’m a yoga teacher of over a decade, specializing in yoga for pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. I love yoga for motherhood, because I live these practices everyday — and powerfully and practically supporting other women is my calling.

Which is funny, because I honestly kinda stumbled into teaching postpartum yoga. Back in 2021, I was a new mother. Isolated and bored after pandemic lockdowns, I was desperate to find my people! I brushed up on my postpartum yoga knowledge and took a leap of faith: I began teaching Yoga with Baby classes in the Blue Mountains.

Practicing and sharing postpartum yoga was a huge part of my own journey in stepping into my motherhood.

It didn’t take me long to experience what so many new mothers do: mothers are under-supported and under-valued in our healthcare system and culture…

But I found that through yoga, I could shower acknowledgement and validation and love and care on myself and others.

It’s been almost a decade since I completed my first postpartum yoga teacher training (as a student), and I have learnt so much since then through continued education. The most valuable education? Witnessing and speaking to mothers in my yoga classes. I have been teaching postpartum yoga in the form of Yoga with Baby with commitment and care for more than 4 years, and I am endlessly grateful to the women who have stepped into these precious yoga classes. I’m thrilled to bring together my yoga studies and my lived experience of motherhood and teaching into The Embrace.

  • Yep!

  • Nope. Sorry not sorry to dash any hopes of certifiable CPD hours. I myself am not affiliated with peak bodies like Yoga Australia or Yoga Alliance, because my values do not align with theirs. I am aware of their standards for training and can confidently assure you that this training exceeds their accreditation requirements. Given the modern context of pregnancy and birth, I'm not cool with an external body controlling or signing off on a pregnancy yoga training.

  • None. You can be a yoga teacher, or not. You can work in healthcare or birthwork, or not. You can be accredited in your profession, or not. You can have yoga experience, or not.

The training is tailored to suit a variety of possible backgrounds and settings for sharing/teaching.

  • Absolutely. If you have anything health conditions, you can let me know about them so that we can make sure any practices are suitable for you.

  • Babies in arms are welcome for most parts of the in-person training. I recommend you have care for your little one for practical parts so that you can get the most out of it.

If you need connections to local babysitters or nannies, please ask me.

    Breastfeeding is welcome.

  • This might not be the training for you if you're not ready to practice teaching in front of a group. There are plenty of pregnancy yoga teacher trainings out there that have zero or minimal practical teaching requirements, and this isn't one of those.

The practical teaching components are flexible: for example, a yoga teacher may teach a 30-minute sequence, another yoga teacher may lead 20 minutes of breathing and relaxation, a doula may roleplay a scenario of supporting a client with yoga-inspired exercises, and a women's circle facilitator may apply yoga philosophy and practices to a mothers circle setting. Teaching can be tailored to each individual.

  • Some are reflective, and others are more practical. You won't be quizzed on your knowledge and there is nothing that you need to "pass".

  • Let's chat! Contact me here, and I'll email you to set a time for a 15-20 minute phone or video call.

Really heartfelt and really impactful.

Embrace your role in uplifting mothers through yoga with confidence and care.

The embrace of motherood awaits…
